The following is the history of Mtsudo and SENDAN-YA.

Origin of MATSUDO
It is said that the origin of the name MATSUDO is that when Japanese Takerunomikoto fighting east, this area was used to wait for the followings, i.e. "MATSUDO (meaning a waiting place)".

Edo era	As Edo Bakufu rearranged the Mito Gaido, MATSUDO and Kogane boomed as hotel towns.
1868 (Keio 4th)	SENDAN-YA Hotel was founded. In the same year Meiji Ishin happened.

1889 (Meiji 22nd)	Matusdo-cho was born
1896 (Meiji 29th)	MATSUDO Station opened.
1943 (Syouwa 18th)	MATSUDO city merged Mabasi.
1954 (Syouwa 29th)	The Togami Inn was built on the old Tokugawa Mansion

1997 (Heisei 9th)	SENDAN-YA become a business hotel from an inn.
2007 (Heisei 19th)	It's incorporated as SENDAN-YA Co., Ltd.
2008 (Heisei 20th)	In May, the name MATSUDO NO YADO HOTEL SENDANYA was changed into SENDAN-YA MATSUDO CITY HOTEL and also its website was opened.
